Annabel Giles' tragic final post saw her enjoy 'lovely' birthday weeks before diagnosis

Annabel Giles' last social media post on Instagram was of her "having a lovely day" while celebrating her birthday just weeks before her brain tumour diagnosis.

Annabel Giles' final social media post is a poignant one, as she celebrated her birthday in May, six months before passing away.

The television presenter sadly lost her fight with stage four glioblastoma on Monday afternoon.

Her last Instagram post to her 4,056 followers was a picture of celebrities who shared the same birthday as her, May 20.

The famous faces include Cher, Louis Theroux and Busta Rhymes, as well as many more.

Just weeks later, the I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! star received the tragic diagnosis that she had a brain tumour.

She wrote: "I'm in good company!!! Having a lovely day and the sun has come out especially #dontask #beatlesage #shutup."

The radio star's children Molly and Ted released a statement about their precious mother's death on Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter.

The statement read: "It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our incredible mother, Annabel Giles, who passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon at Martlets Hospice in Hove.

"In July, Mum was diagnosed with a stage 4 Glioblastoma, a fast-growing and highly aggressive malignant brain tumour.

"In the four months that followed, she displayed remarkable resilience and strength, despite undergoing brain surgery and countless radiotherapies.

"In her final weeks, she was passionate about raising awareness for Glioblastoma, embodying her lifelong commitment to helping others."

Annabel's children went on to thank everybody for their love and support, and requested privacy at this tragic time.

Annabel was primarily known for her work as a television and radio presenter.

She also worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist, as well as work as a model, actress and novelist.

In 2013, she took part in the 13th series of I'm A Celebrity where she entered the jungle as a late entrant with Vincent Simone.

From 2014, Annabel regularly guest-hosted Channel 5 chat show The Wright Stuff hosted by Matthew Wright.

In her early lift, Annabel married lead singer of Ultravox, Midge Ure, but the pair separated in 1989. She leaves behind her two children Molly and Ted, from her previous marriage.
