Voice notes sent by Ashley Dale in weeks before murder helped convict her killers
The Ashley Dale murder trial was a rare moment in British legal history - as her own voice helped nail her callous killers from beyond the grave.
Hundreds of her phone voice-note recordings and texts allowed her to narrate her story in court.
Ashley’s mobile was found an arm’s length away from where police found her.
Messages and voice notes sent to friends – dating back from the day of her death to June when she attended Glastonbury Festival – proved a feud between boyfriend Lee Harrison and her killers.
The jury heard she feared Branch – Barry’s nickname due to his 6ft 7in height – was “out for Lee” and that her “nerves are gone over it all”.
Describing the feud, she told a friend three days after the incidents at Glastonbury: “I know Branch has been saying madness
about Lee.”
She said she had heard of Barry saying to a friend: “Where’s Saz (Harrison), I’m gonna stab him up.”
Ashley then said: “It’s scary cos he’s (Barry) on pure rampage.” She later told another friend: “I just have a bad feeling about everything. It’s horrible.
“Me heart’s in my mouth constantly.”
