Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor has revealed that her husband has suffered a mystery illness, causing the pair to cancel the plans they'd made for the year of her milestone 60th birthday.

"I don't want to go into too much detail about this, but I've had quite a tough year," she told Kaye Adams on an episode of her How To Be 60 podcast, admitting that hubby Tim has been very "poorly".

"He's gonna be fine, but... we had lots of things planned which we've not been able to do, so now we're gonna seize 2024," the soap star declared.

"You always think you're gonna live forever and be healthy forever and suddenly these blips in our lives happen and you start thinking, 'What do I wanna do?'"

Her three children, Phoebe, Sam and Hattie, are all grown up now, with youngest Hattie turning 18 last year and Sally's now determined to enjoy her freedom.

She excitedly divulged to Kaye that she and her husband have been "writing lists" detailing all of the activities that they'd like to do, including travelling the world.

Meanwhile, her husband's illness made her 60th birthday a "washout", meaning that she still regards herself as 59 and intends to celebrate her birthday again next year.

Sally recalled being inspired by a journalist who'd taken a year out to travel the world and said it was "the best thing she'd ever done", so she rushed home to Tim to recommend that they should do the same.

"I said to him, 'We should pack our jobs in, take the kids out of school and travel the world in a camper van!'" she exclaimed, adding that it was one of "life's regrets" that she hadn't ultimately done.

"As I get a bit older, I'm getting a bit more like, 'Sod it! Let's just go!'" she exclaimed.

Sally also shared the tough time she'd had when she was diagnosed with breast cancer aged just 46.

The actress has the same name as her fictional character on the soap as well as her on-screen husband also being called Tim (played by Joe Duttine) on Corrie.

Many fans will remember that Sally discovered she had breast cancer right around the time her character was also diagnosed with the same disease.

She exclaimed that she "couldn't quite believe" the way that the two Sallys had "merged together" and fainted in the doctor's office upon hearing the terrifying news.

"I collapsed on the floor and then I woke up and said 'I think you're mixing me up with my character!'" she recalled.

The storyline prompted her to check her own breasts, with the soap star admitting: "If it wasn't for doing the story in the show, I wouldn't have thought that could ever happen to me... I was so young!"

She added that the doctor she initially saw "knew straight away that it was cancer when he felt it, but he didn't tell me", instead sending her for a biopsy.
