This year, fans of the soap have watched Paul Foreman get diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

Recently, he’s taken to using a wheelchair and has been recording his voice for when he will no longer be able to speak for himself.

However, before his condition got worse fans watched as Paul and Billy Mayhew (played by Daniel Brocklebank) enjoyed some romantic time away from the cobbles at a lake.

Wanting to have some risque fun, Paul suggested they skinny dipping as it was something on his bucket list of things to do.

Despite Billy’s initial reservations, they quickly got their kit off and dived straight in as they shared an emotional moment when they decided to book their wedding.

Soap star Peter exclusively spoke to Express.co.uk and other media publications about filming those intimate scenes.

He said: “That was a great fun day, we were out for the whole day really. It was a beautiful day, the water was great, it got a bit cold towards the end!

“I was shivering a bit towards the end, but the response was amazing. The response from the beginning from people has been overwhelming honestly.

“The way people have responded to Paul’s story, it’s been something really special and we’re all very happy and thank everyone for their positive feedback.”

Curious to know whether or not the pair were fully naked when those scenes were filmed, Peter confessed they weren’t as he detailed what they wore.

He continued: “Flesh-coloured short pants basically, that was it! All the crew were in the wetsuits and everything and in the boat.

“It was all real, no messing about. It was lovely, just got a little bit cold towards the end!”

As Paul’s MND is getting worse, this will be his last Christmas on the cobbles.

With his condition decreasing life expectancy, Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod confirmed there’s an emotional end ahead.

He told Express.co.uk: “What we have tried to do is make it realistic and bittersweet as much as we could and fitting funny, but fairly poignant last Christmas for Paul.”

Coronation Street continues on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
