The daughter of late entertainer Des O'Connor has lost her High Court battle after accusing a police misconduct panel of failing to address the alleged "predatory and abusive" actions of a detective.

James Mason had met and interviewed Kristina O'Connor as a result of a crime she reported in 2011.

The detective is accused of asking her "flirtatious" questions and calling her "amazingly hot".

Lawyers representing Miss O'Connor, now in her 30s, has said the Metropolitan Police had "failed to properly investigate" a complaint, but the force disputed the claim.

They indicated that they were considering an appeal.

Mr Justice Swift, who considered arguments at High Court hearings in London earlier this year, dismissed her application for "judicial review" on Friday.

The judge heard that Des' daughter was reportedly sent numerous inappropriate messages by the detective sergeant after he responded to her report.

A police misconduct panel found that Mr Mason had "deliberately and repeatedly abused his position for a "sexual purpose" and his conduct "amounted to gross misconduct". He was reportedly given a final written warning.

Mr Mason resigned from the Metropolitan Police late in 2022, the judge was told.

Lawyers representing the misconduct panel and the Metropolitan Police disputed claims about the way they handled the process.

"I reject the claimant's challenges to the decisions of the (police) commissioner and the panel," said Mr Justice Swift in a written ruling.

"The application for judicial review is dismissed."

In 2022, Kristina recalled how she mugged by a group of men metres away from her doorstep in Camden.

Speaking on LBC, she said: "It got a bit physical with one of them because I was just in shock and I held onto my phone, I probably should've let go."

The musician said he was left with a black eye after one of the culprits elbowed her in the face and twisted her arm around.

"I managed to hold onto my phone, but sustained a few injuries," she recalled.

Shaken, she went to report the crime to police where she was then questioned by Mr Mason.
