Strictly's Dianne Buswell in 'trouble' with Bobby Brazier after boyfriend Joe Sugg's lie

Former Strictly Come Dancing finalist Joe Sugg said he exaggerated the truth about girlfriend Dianne Buswell's teaching ways to her latest celebrity partner Bobby Brazier, which may have landed her "in trouble".

Bobby Brazier shares concern over 'passionate' performance

Strictly Come Dancing star Joe Sugg admitted he probably got his girlfriend Dianne Buswell "in trouble" with a lie he said about her protocol in rehearsals, to her latest celebrity partner Bobby Brazier.

Joe, 32, who started dating Dianne, 34, after they danced together on the show in 2018, admitted he told EastEnders star Bobby, 20, that she would stop him from having lunch breaks - which he now admits was exaggerated.

He spilled: "I think I got Dianne in a bit of trouble actually.

"I said to him, 'Look, Dianne’s going to try and push you, she’s gonna try and stop you from having your lunch breaks' – which isn’t strictly true."

On why he said it, the YouTube star said his partner used to question why he ate so slowly as she pushed for more rehearsal time.

He added: "I’m a very slow eater, I like to sit and enjoy my food.

"When we were dancing together, she was like, 'Surely, you’re finished by now, we need to get rehearsing because the competition is getting tough now and you’re still not that great'."

Dishing more helpful advice, Joe urged Jeff Brazier's son to fuel his body and "put the hours in" to ensure he gets to his greatest potential.

"That was my advice. Food is just as important as a dance," he continued to Metro.co.uk.

The ex Strictly star went on to say he has been impressed with Bobby's moves so far and believes they could go far, although admitted the "competition is tough".

His words come after the actor confessed to "falling in love" with his partner during the show.

Speaking to The Mirror, he said: “I could speak about Dianne all day.

"She’s just a diamond – you know what, I’m falling in love with her. She’s just great. I feel very lucky.”

This week as part of the Blackpool special, the pair will perform a Jive to Wake Me Up Before You Go Go by Wham!.

They remain in the competition with six other couples all hoping to be this year's Glitterball winners.

Joe knows all too well about the high expectations for the show after making it to the final with Dianne in 2018.

At one point, the dancing duo were tipped to win, however they missed out on the trophy to Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton.

A day after the final, Joe confirmed he and Dianne were dating after weeks of speculation.

Taking to his Instagram page at the time, he shared a picture of the pair gazing into each other's eyes, alongside the caption: "I may not have won the Glitterball, but I’ve won something a million times more special.”

Strictly Come Dancing: Blackpool Special airs Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
