Two in three gamblers’ live in 'secret hell', new research shows

Two in three adults with a betting problem do not tell anyone, research has shown.

GambleAware found 39% of those would not reach out for help because of shame, guilt or fear of being judged.

The charity is now campaigning to end the stigma and urges people to seek assistance.

CEO Zoe Osmond said: “Anyone can be impacted by gambling but the first step is to open up and have that first conversation.”

GP Dr Ellie Cannon, who is backing the drive, said that betting could lead to poor health as well as causing relationship breakdowns.
