Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's potential return to the embrace of the Royal Family seems increasingly unlikely for one key reason, according to Princess Diana's former butler Paul Burrell.

In a piece for the Daily Mirror, Burrell claims the Royal Family believe they will be betrayed if Harry and Meghan are allowed to return to the fold.

Three years after stepping down from their official roles, Harry, 39, and Markle, 42, are holed up in California with their children, Archie, four, and two-year-old Lilibet.

Burrell claims that the Royal Family feels that Harry and Meghan's actions are in breach of royal decorum, saying: "They see it as airing dirty laundry in public and telling tales in public when they know all too well that they shouldn’t be doing that.

"They see it as Harry now making money off the back of being royal, which is wrong in their books."

Furthermore, Burrell points to the belief that Harry is capitalizing on his royal connection for financial gain, a notion viewed unfavorably by the Royal Family.

The release of Harry's memoir, "Spare," which delves into personal matters, including his strained relationship with brother William, has exacerbated tensions.

"Burrell asserts that Harry was fully aware of the potential consequences when documenting his experiences, drawing parallels with Princess Diana's own challenges after her revelations.

While acknowledging the possibility that Harry may feel a pang of homesickness, particularly missing the aspects of life in England, Burrell is skeptical about the couple's reintegration into the Royal Family.

The former butler suggests that the window for a return to official roles within the monarchy has closed, and the couple must now forge their own path.

As Harry and Meghan made a surprise appearance at an ice hockey game in Canada, Burrell reflects on the potential void in Harry's life in California. Despite the allure of a privileged lifestyle, Burrell suggests that the couple may be contemplating revisiting Harry's heritage and reconnecting with the cultural fabric of England.
