'Quick' and 'easy' method to remove 'unsightly' condensation from double glazed windows

Condensation is often found on the outer panes of windows but in some cases, it can appear inside double glazing which seems impossible to reach.

Condensation is a common problem in the winter months when the outside temperature drops and homes are warmed by central heating.

In most cases, the watery droplets can be easily wiped away from window panes but it’s not so easy to do when the water is trapped on the inner layers.

However, it’s also not completely impossible according to an expert at BJH Windows.

Posting on their website, they said: “If you have invested in double pane windows, then you’ll want to keep them up to scratch. The tricky thing about double-glazed windows is that condensation can get caught between the two panes and cause watermarks. This isn’t ideal and can look unsightly.

“Luckily there are quick and easy solutions on how to clean inside double-glazed windows!”

One of the quickest fixes for banishing condensation is to use a space heater or hairdryer near the affected area.

The BHJ Windows expert suggested that these are ideal because they are readily available and simple to use.

To use them effectively, simply place the space heater or hair dryer by the window and leave it on.

According to the window professional, it will absorb “all the moisture in between” the two panes.

That said, it’s also important to consider a long-term solution for fixing trapped condensation.

The expert explained: “Condensation build-up happens when the airtight seal in your double pane windows is broken.”

This kind of problem warrants professional help to ensure it is properly fixed and thus prevents lasting damage to the double glazing.

In the meantime, dehumidifiers are another very useful device for keeping moisture at bay both on glass window panes and inside them.

All that needs to be done is to leave a dehumidifier on the windowsill to effectively absorb moisture and maintain a consistent level of humidity in the air.

This works in all spaces, whether it be a bathroom, living room, kitchen or bedroom.
