Nigel Farage has revealed that he won’t be able to take part in all the Bushtucker trials on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here due to medical issues, despite previously saying he believes the public will vote for him to do every single one.

"Well, anything involving weightlifting, I'd be out because I've obviously had some quite serious physical injuries and neck reconstructions and goodness knows what else," he said.

"So they [producers] are fully aware that I'm a little bit damaged when it comes to bodily structure. But having said that, I can still do most things."

Despite this he said that he plans to get on with it and do his best if asked to undertake a trial.

"I doubt that any of the trials are actually going to kill me, although I don't think they'll all be a bag of fun,” he told The Sun. "But hey look, I signed up for this. It's in for a penny in for a pound. So let's go."

In 2010 Nigel emerged bloodied and dazed from the twisted wreck of a plane after an election stunt went dramatically wrong.

He was pulled from the crushed cockpit of the plane after it crashed while towing a banner bearing the slogan “Vote for your country - Vote Ukip”.

He suffered non life-threatening head injuries and was taken from Hinton-in-the-Hedges airfield, in Northamptonshire, to Horton General Hospital in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

However, he later needed major surgery due to back and neck injuries he sustained in the accident.

Years before that while in his 20s he beat cancer and he cheated death again during this period when he was run over by a car.

Despite his health issues Nigel’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here adventure has gotten off to an intense start 2,000 miles away from the main camp.

Alongside This Morning presenter Josie Gibson and YouTuber Nella Rose, he has been dropped in the red desert in the scorching heat in the first twist of this year’s show, which will once again be hosted by Ant and Dec.

In pictures released by ITV, the trio are seen standing in the barren landscape in their civilian clothes rather than their jungle attire.

They will be tasked with helping their campmates thousands of miles away by winning them time as they part in other challenges on the coast.

They will undertake various challenges in their isolated outback location to help their campmates in their bid to win stars and ultimately food. It is not yet known when they will join the main camp which is near the Gold Coast.

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! starts at 9pm, ITV on Sunday November 19.
