Money maestro Martin Lewis has taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to apologise after missing a scheduled appearance on ITV News.

Prior to the broadcast, he alerted his followers to the fact that he was having issues posting: "Aaargh meant to be doing it lunchtime news on Zoom but my computer just decided to do an update... I'm on 27% and it's going so slowly..." (sic)

He was then forced to abandon the appearance entirely and took to the social media platform to explain what happened to his 2.5 million followers.

"Missed it. Very frustrating. For those saying 'get a back up' this is my back up normally I do interviews via a bespoke broadcast system called Globelynx that I have. Sadly we couldn't use that today so went by Zoom, and then my computer needed to 'restart and update. V v frustrating."(sic)

Many of his followers jumped in the comments to offer up advice although it was all too late to save the day.

A follower with the handle @MrAaronMoy queried: "Can you use a tablet? annoying when this happens."

@rider45 told the money saving expert: "You need a backup computer maybe one with a different operating system so they’ll never update at the same time.. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind you zooming on the phone though."

@thecodecutter suggested: "I know it's a bit late but I suggest you switch off auto-update. You never know just when it's going to kick in."

Meanwhile, @TonyParrack expressed relief writing: "Oh thank goodness it’s not just with me that the computer decides it needs to undertake a lengthy backup a huge time before an important call!!!!"

This latest drama comes after he apologised for an embarrassing slip of the tongue which saw him admit he had used a "terrible" choice of phrase.

On his ITV show, The Martin Lewis Money Show, he used the phrase "adoptive children or your children", while referring to Christmas-time expenses.

Realising his choice of words had apparently left some offended he took to X to clarify why he said it.

"Just realised in the heat of live show I said 'adoptive children r your children' - terrible phrasing, sorry," the 51-year-old cringed.

The multimillionaire finance expert, who has an 11-year-old daughter himself, named Sapphire, added: "Adopted children are of course your children."

Then he explained why he'd singled out adoptive kids in the first instance, writing: "Important tho to highlight many adopted children age 12 to 21's parent may not know they have a Child Trust Fund poss worth £1,000." (sic).
