Meghan Markle was ‘irritated’ at being ‘shoved along’ red carpet to make way for celebs

Meghan Markle was at risk of appearing 'irritated' as she was 'shoved along' the red carpet, according to a body language expert, who said that the Duchess of Sussex 'managed to style it out'.

Meghan Markle had a slightly awkward moment at an event last week when she was hurried along the red carpet.

A body language expert believes that although the Duchess of Sussex managed to keep her cool, she seemed a bit miffed at being rushed like any other celeb.

The former actress, 42, was back on the red carpet for Variety's Power of Women event on Thursday. She was among the star guests who posed for snaps at the LA event hosted by the magazine.

Footage from the event showed Meghan being nudged along the red carpet by an assistant. Meghan briefly continued to pose, before chatting with the individual and then moving along.

Body language expert Judi James recently shared her thoughts with GB News, remarking that Meghan is getting quite good at "recovery", turning a potential slip-up into a face-saving change of movement to protect her brand.

Judi, a body language expert, commented on Meghan's behaviour at public events. She said: “Here though the risk actually looks greater in terms of either diminishing her status as a duchess or allowing an expression of impatience or irritation to leak out."

She also mentioned that publicists can be "quite firm" in guiding celebrities at events to ensure that the biggest names get enough attention.

Judi observed that Meghan seemed "too much in the zone" to notice the hand reaching out to her that "gate-crashed" her photos.

According to Judi, this suggests that Meghan can be "pushed along" like other celebrities. The gesture typically implies that a guest has overstayed their welcome and that there are bigger names "waiting".

While it's okay to be "led or pulled along," being "pushed or shoved along," even without direct physical contact, is "not a good look" for a celebrity, Judi noted.

She pointed out that Meghan didn't seem to initially see the "outstretched hand" directed towards her. When she did notice, she seemingly "ignores it, backing away" and continuing to pose.

Judi highlighted a moment of "potential conflict" as the assistant continued to move forward with an "ushering gesture". It's at this point that Meghan "performs her recovery", Judi added.

The body language expert observed Meghan's interaction with the assistant, saying: "She keeps hold of it, shaking it slightly as though signalling affection, before going back for a few more shots."

Judi further analysed Meghan's red carpet moment, stating that it was "sullied" by the hand reaching out into photos of her and the "implied low status of being ushered along" at such an event.

According to Judi, the Royal Family "don't get ushered". She suggested that this incident seemed to be a "small clash of status behaviours" for the Duchess of Sussex, "versus" Meghan as a former actor.

She added: "Her return in triumph looked compromised but she managed to style it out without looking annoyed."
