Don’t forget your umbrella if you venture out this weekend.

The Met Office has slapped the UK with a huge weather warning for rain for today and Saturday.

It means that even more flooding is feared across the UK - with up to 50mm of rain expected to fall across south west England and south Wales, which is nearly half of the average rainfall Cardiff typically sees in November.

The yellow weather warning has been issued from 9pm on Friday until 3pm on Saturday and forecasters are concerned homes and businesses will be liable to flooding.

It said: “Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

“Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible. Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely.”

There are 94 flood warnings and alerts across the country. This is due to the ground already being saturated following frequent downpours at the start of the month.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Jim Dale, senior meteorologist at British Weather Services, explains more.

He said: “It’s a ‘more rain on sodden ground warning’ in reality - tonight and tomorrow morning into the SW quadrant of the U.K.

“Expecting 15-20mm, so it’s meaningful and adding to that which has fallen over recent weeks. Local flooding entirely possible.”

There are 10 flood warnings in place and a further 84 flood alerts put in place by the Environment Agency.

Of particular concern is the one for Curry Moor and Hay Moor near Bridgwater, Somerset, and the nearby River Tone.

There are multiple flood alerts in the southwest of England, including Rivers Clyst and Culm and their tributaries.

Writing on its website, the Met Office says: "Another area of rain will cross the UK starting from Friday evening, before it clears to the east during Saturday.

Some of that rain, especially in southwestern parts of the UK, is likely to be heavy at times, and follows many weeks of above-average rainfall in this area.

"The associated weather system should clear to the east during Saturday afternoon, with more showery conditions following.”
