Piers Morgan rips into ITV's 'absurd' wokeness after being 'forced out of job' at GMB

Piers Morgan abruptly left the set of Good Morning Britain after being condemned by his co-presenter Alex Beresford over his remarks about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey two years ago.

Piers Morgan believes his departure from ITV's Good Morning Britain is an illustration of cancel culture.

In a new interview, the outspoken TalkTV presenter took aim at his former employers and admitted he now feels vindicated following his exit from the morning show.

"I’ve always been an advocate for [free speech]," Piers commented. "But I think that what happened to me on Good Morning Britain was a fascinating illustration of where this absurd cancel culture has taken us."

He continued to The Evening Standard: "And it was driven by a lot of very self-righteous, hypocritical, faux-woke people who believe that if people don’t agree with them, or accept their version, (and often a lived experience which bears no relation to reality), then they have the power to cancel them, shame them and all the rest of it."

Piers, 58, admitted he did not believe a word Meghan Markle had said during her interview with Oprah in 2021.

The broadcaster refused to apologise to the Duchess of Sussex, at the time, which he said cost him his job on GMB.

He remarked: "I was told I had to apologise for that opinion, whereas nobody else had to apologise for theirs."

The Uncensored presenter went on to suggest many of Harry and Meghan's claims have since been "airbrushed" with the duke not addressing certain comments made in their Oprah interview in the royal's own memoir.

Piers said: "I think I’ve been vindicated on the facts. But regardless of that, I should be allowed to disbelieve somebody, right?"

At the time of his exit, an ITV spokesperson said: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."

The TV star also shared during his chat with the Evening Standard he received several job offers after leaving GMB.

He shared: "I had a lot of offers after Meghan Markle decided to force me out of my job. But I like the all-round package of this deal that I did with Rupert Murdoch."
