Prince Harry "begged" the Royal Family not to break the news of the late Queen's death until he got to be with them, a new bombshell book claims.

In Omid Scobie's forthcoming book, Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival, he shared various new claims - including the moment that Harry found out about his late grandmother's passing.

The late Queen Elizabeth II's death was officially announced to the world at 6:30pm on September 8, 2022.

Just as the news was released, Prince Harry was minutes away from touching down in Aberdeen and reportedly "begged" the Royal Family to hold off releasing the news as stormy weather meant that his plane had to circle the airport before it could land.

The Palace agreed to wait for a time, but eventually they chose to make the announcement without him.

Mr Scobie writes: "When Harry’s plane finally touched tarmac twenty minutes later, he received a text from Meghan urging him to call ASAP followed by a breaking news alert via the BBC News app with the announcement of the Queen’s death."

The book also claims that Harry was "kept in the dark" over how much the Queen's health was deteriorating in her final hours.

Mr Scobie, who also co-wrote the couple's book Finding Freedom in 2020, claimed that both Harry and Meghan had "no idea" that the Royal Family were preparing for the Queen's final hours.

An extract from his latest book, which were shared with PEOPLE magazine, reads :"The Sussexes had no idea that Buckingham Palace was already planning for the Queen’s final hours and the first days of the monarchy’s new era — until the Duke’s phone started ringing. An unknown number. He usually ignored those."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were already in the UK at the time of the late Queen's death, with the couple due to attend the WellChild Awards on the evening of the 8th.

Harry and Meghan cancelled their appearance after the news broke, with Harry then travelling to Balmoral to be with the family.

With Harry typically ignoring "unknown" calls, Meghan encouraged him to answer - to which he did and spoke to his father, the now-King Charles.

The book then claims that the King "told Harry to make his way to Scotland immediately" and that his aunt Princess Anne was already at his grandmother's side.

Meghan and Harry then extended their stay in the UK so they could attend the late Queen's state funeral 11 days after her death.

The pair both joined the royals to mourn the late monarch at Westminster Abbey on September 19, 2022.

Harry and Meghan appeared distraught, with Meghan was even seen wiping away a tear from her cheek at one point.
