Princess Charlotte's cheeky gesture on holiday that took Princess Kate by surprise

As well as being their only daughter, Princess Charlotte is known to be the sassiest out of the Prince and Princess of Wales's three children.

Princess Charlotte once expressed a cheeky gesture that left her mum, Princess Kate, mortified.

In 2019, the cheeky then-four-year-old was holidaying with her family in the Isle of Wight where she indulged in some very cheeky behaviour.

The family-of-five, along with Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton, attended a sailing regatta on the Isle of Wight when Princess Kate waved to some people that stood below.

Kate attempted to get her daughter to follow her lead but, instead of playing ball, Princess Charlotte decided to poke out her tongue.

The mother-of-three didn't seem impressed by her daughter, despite giggling when she realised what Charlotte was doing.

As Kate leant forward to have a word with Charlotte, who was holding onto her grandmother Carole's hand, she got her to stop and ushered her forward.

Despite it all happening very quickly, cameras managed to snap the unforgettable moment and gave fans a giggle.

Royal fans love to see all three of William and Kate's children at royal events and, at each one, Charlotte has charmed the crowds.

Now aged eight, Charlotte's personality has begun to shine through at recent events, as she's often seen keeping her two brothers in check.

Royal fans have often taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their delight at the young royal.

One fan, alongside a picture of Charlotte at the Commonwealth Games last year, wrote: "Princess Charlotte is such [an] adorable and cheeky little character."

Prince Louis, five, has now inherited Charlotte's cheeky streak - with his antics recently displayed at the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee last year and the King's Coronation earlier this year.

Just like his sister, Louis has often been seen to test his parents patience - much to the delight of royal fans.

Giving Charlotte a run for her money, the then-four-year-old Louis was seen pulling an array of funny faces and sticking his tongue out during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations last June.

The young royal, who is the Prince and Princess of Wales's youngest child, was also seen shushing his mum while sat in the royal box watching the Jubilee Pageant.

Not forgetting their elder brother, Prince George has also had his fair share of cheeky moments, with George seen making an 'L' hand gesture during a royal tour of Canada alongside his parents in 2015.
