Princess Diana's prank on Prince William that made him fall down the stairs revealed

Princess Diana once pulled a hilarious prank on Prince William that made him go "bright red" with embarrassment and fall down the stairs.

The late Princess of Wales may have been praised for her parenting skills and her efforts to raise William and Prince Harry as normally as possible but she was also quite the prankster herself.

The princess would often go all out to buy her sons naughty gifts to embarrass them with.

One of her pranks was so good Prince William admitted he'll never forget about it.

In 2017 during an interview about the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death, William opened up about one prank she once played on him.

He said: "Just outside this room where we are now, she organised when I came home from school to have Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell waiting at the top of the stairs.

"I was probably a 12 or 13-year-old boy who had posters of them on his wall. And I went bright red and didn’t know quite what to say and sort of fumbled and I think I pretty much fell down the stairs on the way up.

"I was completely and utterly sort of awestruck. That was a very funny memory that’s lived with me forever about her, loving and embarrassing and being the sort of joker."

Another prank she played on Harry this time involved a fake dog poo.

According to her former butler, Paul Burrell, Diana once found the perfect stocking filler for her youngest.

He said: "She'd spend hours looking for jokey things for their stockings. One year, Harry got fake dog poo."

And he revealed that Harry loved the gift and said he wanted to trick his grandmother - the late Queen Elizabeth - with it.
