Rishi Sunak

Rishi Sunak became the UK's 57th Prime Minister on October 25, 2022, following Liz Truss's resignation on October 20, 2022. A short-lived leadership race saw Penny Mordaunt withdraw and the top job automatically granted to Mr Sunak after gaining huge support from MPs. He was elected Conservative MP for Richmond (Yorks) in May 2015 and served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from February 2020 to July 2022 before he resigned, sparking the Tory leadership race after Boris Johnson resigned.  Rishi went to Winchester College and studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford University. He was also a Fulbright Scholar at Stanford University (USA) where he studied for his MBA. He married his wife Akshata Murthy, a businesswoman and daughter of an Indian billionaire, in 2009.
