A woman - believed to be in her 70s - was rushed to hospital and later died after falling down down six rows of seats at Robbie Williams concert.

The former Take That singer performed his first night of his Australian XXV tour at the Allianz Stadium in Sydney in front of a sold-out crowd of 38,000 fans.

The horrifying accident happened after the show ended while thousands of concert-goers were filing out of the stadium.

On Tuesday, medical authorities from St Vincent’s Hospital confirmed she had died after being placed into an induced coma.

Paramedics treated her at the scene for head and facial injuries.

"Rather than use stairs, the woman attempted to step over seating rows. She lost her footing and fell," said a stadium spokesman according to the Sydney Morning Herald's report. "This is a terribly sad incident and our thoughts and wishes are with the patron and their family during this time."

Following the accident, an ambulance service spokesperson confirmed to Sky News Australia that she had been taken to hospital in critical condition.

Taking to Instagram after his first night in Australia, he wrote: "Sydney: that was an unforgettable evening, thank you - I love you, Australia.

"Congratulations to Daniel and Lauren - I wish you a lifetime of happiness together. Rob."

The news of the woman's death comes just four days after a Taylor Swift fan died at the singer’s Eras Tour concert in Rio de Janeiro of a suspected cardiac arrest, as temperatures soared across Brazil.
