Strictly: Angela Rippon on her slip during dance

Angela Rippon has returned to Blackpool Tower Ballroom as Strictly Come Dancing gears up for Blackpool week tonight.

The 79-year-old previously hosted Strictly's predecessor, Come Dancing at the landmark ballroom forty years ago.

The presenter took to Instagram to share the moment she walked into the iconic venue again for the first time.

In the clip, Angela says: "Hello and welcome to Come Dancing. Oh, actually that was what 40 years ago or more when I was introducing Come Dancing from the ballroom.

"But now it's Strictly Come Dancing and instead of presenting the program, I'm here to dance on this iconic wonderful floor.

"It's oh my, what an adventure this has been and I'm in Blackpool again."

She captioned it: "What a special moment this is. It's such an honour to be dancing on the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom dancefloor with @kaiwidd tomorrow.

"Not only is this where I presented Come Dancing many moons ago but this is the very first time Kai will have danced at Blackpool with a partner on @bbstrictly.

"I hope I do you proud, partner. What an amazing experience!" she signed off.

Angela and Kai, 28, found themselves in the bottom two last Sunday, with Krishnan Guru-Murphy and his partner Lauren Oakley.

After both performed again in the dance-off, three out of four of the judges decided to save Angela, meaning Krishnan and Laura were out of the competition.

Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel-Horwood all decided to save Angela and Kai.

Although Angela had received the most votes to stay, head judge Shirley Ballas revealed she would have saved Krishnan.

Fans were left unhappy with the decision and branded it a "fix" to get Angela to return to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

Viewers flooded to X, formerly known as Twitter, to comment on the judges' decision to axe Krishnan and save Angela.

Tonight, the broadcaster and her partner will be dancing an American Smooth to Tea For Two by Ella Fitzgerald.

Strictly Come Dancing returns for Blackpool week at 6:40pm on BBC One.
