Lucy Rogers commented: "#thismorning omg yes Rylan and Cat doing the show this will be a good one." (sic)

However, not all viewers were as keen on Cat as the others, as @BrightonTina7 added: "#thismorning Oh I’m really not sure about these two…he’s super irritating and she’s a giggler."

@CalmerCalm penned: "Bring back Josie please! She is much more friendlier and bubblier... and I am a huge fan!" (sic)

It was reported that Cat would be joining the This Morning team as a TV insider said: "Cat is a seasoned pro and execs have been keen to get her in for a while. She takes live TV in her stride and is really witty and personable with guests.

"She is comfortable interviewing both pop stars and politicians, so if it goes well she could be a much more permanent solution to Holly leaving. Cat would be safe captain to steady the ship."

After the news was announced, Cat joined Rylan Clark on his BBC Radio 2 show: "Can you believe it? They’ve let us loose.

“I mean, who in their right mind… I don’t know who’s in charge, clearly no one.”

Rylan responded that their partnership would be "the two that put that final nail in the coffin" to which Cat laughed and added: "I like to think it’s care in the community or something like.

"They’re just looking after us… like they’re teetering on the brink of like going downhill from here (so they thought) ‘let’s just get them on’.”

Rylan also joked: "If we don't play wonkey donkey I'm not doing it …. @thismorning @catdeeley," on his X account, after re-tweeting a news article about Cat's new role.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
