The world's best cities to visit in 2024 have been revealed, with London taking the number one spot beating the likes of Paris and New York.

The results came from an annual report by Resonance Consultancy which ranks the top 100 from 270-plus cities with populations of more than one million.

It ranks cities based on three categories - liveability, loveability and prosperty. Numerous factors are taken into account, including educational attainment, GDP per capita, poverty rate, the number of quality restaurants, shops and nightclubs, walkability, the number of mapped bike routes, quality parks and museums, and the number of recommendations on sites such as Tripadvisor, Google, Facebook and Instagram.

And the UK's capital not only made the top 10, but it took first place having beat hundreds of other cities around the world.

Dubbed the "capital of the capitals", the report declares it "reigns over all global cities".

The study claims it is the most livable and loveable city, thanks to its winning culture and education attainment.

As well as this, the report said it "is being reborn" with "big name openings" and recent travel improvements, like the introduction of the Elizabeth Line.

And while the report mentions "Brexit", this didn't stop it from ranking London the number one city in the world.

The report concludes: "Despite crippling Covid lockdowns and economic devastation. Despite Brexit. Despite a war in Europe. The city is more indomitable and part of the global discourse than ever. From the Queen's death, to last autumn's chaotic drama at 10 Downing Street that finally calmed down with Rishi Sunak becoming prime minister, only to take heavy local election losses this spring, London is rarely quiet these days."
